The Roman Road to Salvation

The “Roman Road” is a simple but powerful way to understand God’s plan of salvation, based on verses from the book of Romans in the Bible. It shows us our need for salvation, God’s provision through Jesus Christ, and how to respond in faith.

Step 1: Our Need

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
Every one of us has sinned. None of us can measure up to God’s perfect standard.

Step 2: The Cost of Sin

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
Sin separates us from God, but He offers us eternal life through His Son.

Step 3: God’s Love

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
Even in our sin, God showed His love by sending Jesus to die for us.

Step 4: Our Response

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
Salvation is a gift we must receive by faith—believing in Jesus and confessing Him as Lord.

The Sinner’s Prayer

If you’ve never made this decision, you can pray something like this from your heart:

“Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins and rose again. Today, I turn from my sin and invite You into my life. I confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

The keys are
* Truthfulness* and *Sincerity* and *TRUE Repentance*

God can’t be lied to. He can’t be taken in. He KNOWS when you are truly ready to accept Jesus into your heart. If that longing deep within you tells you that you need something in your heart, then consider this:
Jesus Saves souls and He may be knocking. If he is knocking, then invite Him in please!

What next?

Find a good church home. A Christian church that preaches and teaches the Bible (God’s Holy Word). You’ll find the folks there will be happy to help you in your journey and your preacher is a great resource for those questions that you will definitely have! Hang out with like-minded brothers and sisters in Christ. Get baptized. Read your Bible. If you don’t have a Bible, go to this site: Bible Hub or the YouVersion Bible app. Those are two that come to mind, but there are others also.

The Bible isn’t always the easiest book to read, especially for the new Christian. There are several translations available to make the text a little more modern such as the English Standard Version (ESV) or the Christian Standard Bible (CSB). There is also an excellent Bible coach, Keith Ferrin. I suggest going to his YouTube site to learn a lot about getting the most from your Bible study. Keith Ferrin – Your Bible Coach – YouTube

Of course, you can always reach out to me here. I don’t have all the answers, but I’ll do my best to get you an answer.

If you prayed the prayer with sincerity, then I welcome you as a new brother or sister and rejoice with you! Mark the date because it just became your new “spiritual” birthday!

With love,

John
